Late Night Recon: On December 8th, just past midnight, a shady crew of 3 rolled up in a likely stolen white Hellcat, circling a residence twice. Their target? A gleaming 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk parked in the driveway.
Planning the Heist: The Trackhawk’s presence sparked their interest. Did they have intel or were they opportunists? Whatever the reason, they focused on the Jeep, likely due to a known security exploit.
Exploiting the System: At 1:45 am, things went down. They saw their chance – no alarm went off! They smashed the passenger rear window for quick access. While Suspect #1 went in to reach the OBD-II port under the driver’s seat, Suspect #2 whipped out a device. This wasn’t some high-tech James Bond stuff – reports say it’s a gadget readily available online (think Amazon!). Using a common mobile device, Suspect #2, positioned behind the Hellcat, used Bluetooth to “reflash” the Jeep’s key fob signal. Easy as that. All the while, Suspect #3 kept watch, with a possible lookout at the street’s end for extra security.
Mission Accomplished: ️ With the key fob reprogrammed, Suspect #1 fired up the Jeep and the trio vanished into the night. This whole operation, exploiting a manufacturer’s oversight, took a shocking 20 minutes!
Stay Alert, Jeep Owners!: ⚠️ This is a wake-up call for Jeep owners. If you have a Trackhawk (or similar model), investigate security upgrades and consider contacting the manufacturer about this specific exploit. Don’t be the next victim of a quick and easy heist!
Lowered, carbon wrap hood, carbon wrap rear, and side mirror lights.
